Maximising plant upgrade returns - benefiting financially from NGACs

NGACs can be traded and have monetary value.

As members of the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme (GGAS) Technical Services Panel, we are working with many of the major power stations throughout Australia in evaluating eligibility of plant improvements that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and stepping them through the complex application process with the aim of maximising revenue from the scheme.

We also offer a comprehensive plant performance testing service to verifying the actual improvement in plant performance and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

 

Case Study

For a turbine upgrade with a 3.5% improvement in heat rate, NGACs creation can increase revenue from the modification by as much as 20%, with an increase in financial return from the upgrade as high as 50%.

We provide each customer with the solutions by:
  • identifying, costing and assessing the economic viability of options for reducing greenhouse gases from the customer's plant (including estimation of number and value of NGACs to be created)
  • completing customer's application for membership of Generator Efficiency Standards (required for some NGAC accreditation)
  • completing customer's application for NGAC accreditation (including preparation of supporting documentation required to pass audit)
  • reviewing customer's application for NGAC accreditation (including review of supporting documentation required to pass audit)
  • performance testing plant (pre and post modification) to determine the number of NGACs that can be created
