Product and Component Compliance

Your newly developed or imported products must meet Australian standards - do they?

With a wide variety of rigs and other testing methods we are able to undertake the following:

  • mechanical testing of materials and products against standards to confirm compliance
  • development of specialised testing rigs to evaluate performance of products in simulated operating environments
  • design verification and design improvement
  • fitness for purpose assessment of assets
  • proof testing of structures and products (from scafolding to shopping trolleys)

To support the steady increase in quality requirements for products sold within Australia, we are heavily involved in the testing of materials and industrial and consumer products to determine compliance with safety and integrity standards.

Our testing capabilities include Australian Standards, ISO, EN and ASTM with particular focus on the materials testing and consumer product standards. We also have considerable experience testing automotive components and assemblies to various automotive manufacturers’ specifications. Our laboratory is equipped with mechanical, friction, vibration and environmental (humidity, salt spray and temperature) test facilities to enable the full scope of compliance testing. In addition, we have developed several in-house component performance specifications and have designed and built test rigs to enable performance assessment of uncommon products.

A wide range of mechanical tests are undertaken with NATA accreditation for metals and plastics, while other testing capabilities extend to concrete and composites. Where non-standard tests are required special test procedures are developed to suit the application. The more common tests include tensile, compressive and impact testing. These tests can be done routinely over a range from cryogenic to 1000 °C. In addition to static testing, we have significant experience with fatigue testing, creep, stress rupture and stress relaxation, creep fatigue, surface coating assessment and other specialised materials testing.

    Case study

    Automotive components

We do a number of compliance tests of automotive components and assemblies to assess if the parts meet specification. This means the end customer, the car manufacturer, knows they can rely on the parts performance.
