Noise and vibration control

HRL silencer installed in a power station FD fan inlet

We provide each customer with a solution by:
  • conducting performance testing ranging from simple noise level surveys to advanced turbulence suppressed sound pressure level measurements
  • conducting measurement tests under flow conditions
  • conducting on site surveys before and after the installation of control devices
  • using computer modelling and laboratory test rigs to accurately assess performance before installation
  • conducting plant noise surveys
  • assessing employee noise exposure and identifying hearing loss risks

Case study

Noise problem in a boiler forced draft fan

Our customer, a large power station, had noise control problems in their boiler forced draft fan inlets, resulting in industrial concerns. We investigated the causes and designed, manufactured and installed silencers. The plant's operation and performance was improved. Compliance with engineering, OH&S and environmental criteria and regulations was achieved. The decreased noise also contributed to improved industrial and community realtions for our customer.

Our customers have enjoyed benefits including:
  • improved plant operation and performance
  • implementation of occupational noise and vibration management programs
  • improved industrial and community relations
  • compliance with engineering, OH&S and environmental criteria and regulations

Vibration problem in a turbine

A power station had a turbine our of balance causing vibration problems. A turbine out of balance left unchecked can cause damage to the bearings and rubbing between the tubine blades and casing leading to major maintenance and loss of production.

HRL Technology had the expertise, the equipment and experience necessary to ge the job right the first time.
