Process Modelling
Why Model?
We all want to get the most out of our plant. With growing pressure on emissions and the need to get fuel and maintenance costs down, optimisation of processes can offer great benefits to operators.
There may be a number of great ideas out there, but how will these affect your plant?
Process Modelling allows us to "look inside" the plant while it is operating, first to understand why it behaves the way it does, then to develop an optimisation package. That package can then be tested in the model to quantify benefits and help lock down costs.

Modelling Software
HRL Technology utilises a range of commercial software packages to develop process models.
- FLUENT: Advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for all processes involving fluid flows.
- ASPEN: Overall chemical process and heat transfer model.
- Steam Master / Pro: Steam cycle modelling for efficiency, heat exchanger design, and effect of off-design conditions.
- GT-Pro: Gas Turbine and combine cycle system sizing, design and off-design performance.
Alternatively, if these packages aren’t suitable, a model can be developed from first principals, in either Visual Basic or Excel.
