Process troubleshooting/optimisation
Are you looking for ways to improve production and revenue?
We understand the many factors that influence the performance of steam raising boilers in power stations and process plants. We identify issues and make recommendations that are practical and cost effective. We provide our customers with solutions by:
- assessing current plant performance
- design enhancements
- verifying solutions
- analysing vibration
- assessing noise
Our customers have enjoyed benefits including:
- independent evaluation of process viability
- minimised risks (technical, operating and commercial)
- reduced capital and operating costs
- optimised plant power generation to site requirement
HRL Technology's modelling capability includes:
- ASPEN: Overall chemical process and heat transfer model
- GT-Pro: Gas Turbine and combined cycle system sizing, design and off-design performance
- Steam Master/Pro: Steam cycle modelling for efficiency, heat exchanger design and effect of off-design conditions
- FLUENT: Advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for all processes involving fluid flows
Alternatively, if these packages aren't suitable, a model can be developed from first principals, in either Visual Basic or Excel.

Case study
Disruption to gas generator performance
Formation of hard fused deposits occurred within a process gas incinerator after only a few days operation using a modified production process. A rapid solution was required to ensure production contracts could be met.
Following a short investigation, HRL Technology developed a low-cost solution that allowed normal plant run lengths of 18 months to be achieved.
The combustion performance of the incinerator was also improved as a result of the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling during the investigation. |
