Case study

Pig iron recovery from waste tailings

Our customer wanted to recover pig iron from waste tailings. We developed flowsheets to evaluate a novel process to recover the pig iron using a smelter-reducer. We also identified options for the production of power and process heat utilisation from the smelter off-gases.
