We are able to evaluate new techniques and technologies in welding, with special knowledge of the requirements for welding high pressure components and repairing creep-damaged steels.

Case study

Repair of a 200MW valve chest

Non destructive testing (NDT) during a scheduled outage identified a major defect in the steam chest of a 200MW turbine. A welding procedure was developed and qualified. The repair was carried out in situ. This avoided excessive outage times and the costs and delays associated with a replacement valve chest.
