Workshop Supervisor

Professional Background

Over 38 years’ experience working in manufacturing, maintenance and environmental services. Management and performance of various tasks in a mechanical workshop and meeting the requirements of a broad customer base. Installing and commissioning various plant and process machinery in the manufacturing and environmental remediation of contaminated land. 

Areas of Expertise

  • Preparation, commissioning, calibration of various specialized rigs for onsite measurements including:
    • Emission sampling.
    • Gas sampling.
    • Turbine performance testing.
  • Design and construction of test rigs for component evaluation.
  • Conducting maintenance on various process plant, building services and test equipment.
  • Managing and performing various duties within a Mechanical Workshop.

Considerable technical skills including:  

  • Test rig design and resourcing.
  • Test rig construction and fabrication.
  • Test rig operation.
  • Assessment and inspection and testing components to Australian Standards.
  • Machine shop experience including lathes, milling, grinders, metal forming, spot welding, welding, wire cutting, etc.   
  • Component compliance testing - automotive parts.
  • Project management - coordinating resources and materials, equipment purchasing.
  • WHSE safety floor warden for company.
  • Site measurements using Data Acquisition Systems.
  • Results processing of data using MS Excel.
  • Provision of equipment maintenance for scientific equipment.
  • Management of calibration systems for core testing equipment.
  • Calibration of testing equipment.
  • Provision of manufacturing assistance to teams as required.
  • Practical testing and inspection skills.
  • Workshop management - including Junior Staff and Contractors.
  • Vast experience with range of specialist power and hand tools.
  • Product testing of domestic and statutory equipment - bicycles and pressure vessels.
  • Dimensional analyses of components - micrometers, calipers, etc.

Relevant Project Experience

  • Installation and maintenance of various process sampling equipment installed on boilers and heat recovery units.
  • Preparation and management of test equipment for corrosion testing.
  • Management of contractors to complete and maintain various building services at the Mulgrave location.
  • Design and fabrication of test equipment for specialized static and vibration loading.
  • Large scale ground water and soil remediation project design construction and operation, worth approximately $4 Million.

  • Diploma of Engineering Technology (Mechanical) (NMIT) Australia 2003
  • Certificate of Toolmaking (Tool & Gauge) (Preston College of TAFE) 1984
  • Certificate of Proficiency in Fitting & Turning (Preston College of TAFE) 1983
