HRL at the Australia–Philippines Business Council Energy Forum 2025
HRL was proud to take part in the Australia-Philippine Business Council (APBC) Energy Forum, which brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and business to explore opportunities for collaboration in the energy sector.
We extend our sincere thanks to Rafael Toda, President of APBC, and John Tantoco for their warm hospitality, and to Sheila Trance from Austrade for facilitating the connection.
The forum provided valuable insights into the growing partnership between Australia and the Philippines in advancing renewable energy and the energy transition. One key message from the discussions was the importance of engaging engineering consultants early in renewable energy projects, ensuring feasibility studies are credible and bankable to attract investors.

During the panel session, HRL’s Sam shared his perspective on how Filipino engineers can benefit from the technical expertise of Australian consultants, particularly as Australia advances its decarbonisation and net zero journey. He also highlighted how shared language and cultural alignment make collaboration between the two countries efficient and productive, a point that resonated with many attendees.
HRL looks forward to continuing meaningful engagement across the business, legal, and engineering sectors to support the Philippines’ transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
